Mango Habanero Jam

Marathon Mangos was so kind to send me two boxes of mangos! So what did I do with all these mangos? Make Mango Habanero Jam! Well only with four of the mangos…

Jump to Mango Habanero Jam Recipe

This was my first time making jam, and you just need mangos, lime, habanero, and 30 minutes! Simply puree, crush, or chop the mangos, deseed the habaneros, and then cook them down for 25 minutes! The lime juice gets added towards the end of the reduction process and keeps the jam fresh for a month (since there is no pectin added).

Deseed the habanero for less spice, or chop up the habanero for more spice. If you want no spice, eliminate the pepper all together! Either way the mango is the star of the jam! The riper the mango, the more sweet the jam is going to be. However if using less sweet mangos, add sugar to the pot with the crushed mango at the beginning of the cooking process. While reducing the mango, constantly stir the mixture every 1-2 minutes to avoid the mango burning or sticking to the pot.

Store the jam in an airtight container (like these Mason Jars) for up to a month in the refrigerator or three months in the freezer. This mango habanero jam is perfect for pancakes, toast, cheese and crackers, or even thumbprint cookies! The options are endless! My current favorite way to eat the jam is on a piece of toast layered with cream cheese and then the mango habanero jam! Enjoy!
